Our Summer Art Classes and Art Camps are ON SITE at the STUDIO!

How to Register: 

1. To register for Spring II (Summer Classes and Camps as well) classes please click register here to create an account and select the class you are signing up for. 

2. Payment can be made through Venmo (claudia-venditto) or cash/check.

3. If applicable, Click on the link (Anaphylaxis Plan) below to view and print the form.

Please Note:
1. We require completed registration forms and full payments for our classes and camps as your child’s reservation. 
2. Please make us aware of your child’s allergies,if any. Please complete the anaphylaxis emergency action plan, if need be and submit prior to the start of class.

 

Payment Policy for Classes, Camps, and Workshops: If a payment is made and a request for reimbursement is made prior to the start of a camp/class/workshop, Blue Door Studio will consider the reimbursement based on the timing of the reimbursement request and the number of enrollments in the class/camp/workshop. Each reimbursement request will be responded to as individual requests and will be addressed accordingly.

PreK-K Art Camps for ages 4-6

 

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9am – 12pm
Cost: $255
Plus additional one-time summer $25 registration fee per family, and a free BDS t-shirt per camper

 

1. Go Wild with Art!
July 5th, 7th, and 9th
Learn how to draw, paint and sculpt  animals using shapes with pattern and learn about geography as you travel the world to learn about their various habitats!

2. Master Artists!
July 19th, 21st, and 23rd
Learn about the art styles of Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Klee, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse and Helen Frankenthaler as you draw, paint, and sculpt!

3. Ocean Exploration
August 9th, 11th, 13th
Explore the depths of the ocean! Create Paper Mache sea creatures, paintings and much more as you draw, paint and sculpt from your imagination!

4. Art Around the World!
August 16th, 18th, 20th
Travel the world creating art as magnificent as your imagination. Each day we will visit a different country and experience its arts and culture creating art pieces along the way! Join us and fill your artist passport with fun!

Summer Camps – Full Day Options

 

Mix it Up Media!

For ages 7-12
Monday – Friday: 9am – 3pm

Cost: $395
Plus additional one-time summer $25 registration fee per family, and a free BDS t-shirt per camper
Virtual Grand Finale Art Exhibit on Fridays!

  • Option 1: July 12th – July 16th
  • Option 2: August 2nd – August 6th

This full day art camp is about exploring a variety of art media (drawing media and painting media, recycled materials, and clay). It’s all about the creation of drawing and painting and collage projects in the morning and ceramic studio projects in the afternoon (in our NEW ceramics studio). Virtual Grand Finale Art Exhibit on Fridays!

Summer Camps – Half Day Options

 

For ages 7-12

Digital Media Design: Digital Art, Animation Design, and Photography and Adobe Photoshop
Option 1: July 5th – July 9th
Option 2: August 2nd – August 6th

This half day art camp is about exploring a variety of digital art media (digital design, animation, photography, and photoshop). Students will create characters, landscapes, and a three-panel comic strip digitally using their Apple iPad with an app called Autodesk Sketchbook! Learn about compositions using a 35mm camera, editing images on Photoshop, and bringing your drawings to life with animation applications! Virtual Grand Finale Art Exhibit on Fridays!

Materials Needed: a stylus pen, an iPhone or  iPad (required for participation in this camp) and please have the following apps downloaded: Animation Desk and Animation Desk.

3. Clay Time!
July 19th – 23rd
Create ceramic pieces like masks, pottery, and totems to learn about ceramic forms created from various cultures throughout time!

4. Teen Week (for ages 12-17)
July 19th – 23rd
Learn drawing and painting techniques: graphite, charcoal, and acrylics! Create still life and portrait art pieces.

5. A Designer’s World
August 2nd – 6th
Design logos, t-shirts, playgrounds, and more!

6. Pop Art!
August 9th – 13th
Create unique artwork using bold shapes and colors! Students will learn methods from Andy Warhol and Roy Litchenstein! Students will use acrylic paints and media to give their artwork that extra POP!

7. Paint a Canvas & Pastels!
August 16th – 20th
Learn to draw a different thematic painting each day and then paint with acrylics a canvas a day1 We will explore painting themes like animals, seascapes, still life, ,insects and mandalas!

Summer Art Classes for Pre K – Grade 3

 

1. Art Explorers!  

for students in Pre K and Kindergarten! (minimum of 5 student enrollment required)

Wednesdays:  (4:30pm – 5:30pm) : June 23rd, July 7th, 14th, 21st, August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

8 week session

Cost: $225, and $25 summer registration fee

Art is an adventure when you begin exploring new art materials and methods!  Our young artists will be introduced to drawing, painting and sculpting media while they learn about master artists’ art pieces and styles. This multi sensory based class will also focus on literacy and art vocabulary!  Students will be given multiple opportunities to express themselves through a variety of media and art discussions with their peers.

2. Art Adventures in Drawing, Painting & Ceramics

for grades : 1 – 3

Students age 6 can be recommended by a BDS Art Instructor for this class.

Thursdays: (4:00pm – 6:00pm) : June 24th, July 8th, 15th, 22nd, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

Cost: $385, and $25 summer registration fee

This action packed art class focuses on this age group’s multi – sensory approach to learning. Our young  artists will expand upon their use of art vocabulary when they learn about the design elements of line, shape, textures and color seen in the works  of master artists: Picasso, Miro, Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and many more!  They will also be encouraged to discuss their ideas that they used in their thematic drawings, paintings and sculptures with their fellow art students!

OUR DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES for Grades 4-12

Our class levels are sequentially based to advance the students’ skills and techniques 

 

1. Pre-teen – Teen Foundations

for ages 11-17

Thursdays: (4:00pm – 6:30pm) : June 24th, July 8th, 15th, 22nd, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

8 week session

Cost: $385,plus $25 summer registration fee

This class is an introductory class to drawing and painting skills. It progresses from level Foundations Level 1- Level 4,  allowing  the students to experience a variety of media and lessons from session to session.  The students’ lessons will focus on the design elements and principles of art, as well as drawing and painting. The students will be introduced to a variety of drawing media (pencil, ink, pastels) and painting media (watercolor and acrylics) as they utilize the elements of designs and principles in their creative compositions!  Drawing from observation is strongly encouraged in order to train the eyes of the artist as he or she  draws / paints from life.

~Please note:  Students are divided into age groups within this class to meet the developmental and social needs of students in the class.

2. Advanced Art for High School Students & College Prep

for grades 9-12

Session 1:
Tuesdays: (3:00 pm – 6:30 pm) : June 22nd, July 6th, 13th, 20th

Cost: $275, plus $25 summer registration fee

Session 2:
Tuesdays: (3:00 pm – 6:30 pm): August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th

Cost: $275, plus $25 summer registration fee

This advanced level class is for students who have had previous drawing and painting experiences  in the Adv. Art Level 1 class and who are eager to further develop their drawing and painting skills. Students will advance their drawing skills through the use of various drawing media (pencil, pen and ink, charcoal and chalks) and techniques ( contour line drawing, shading and color blending ) when they explore the traditional subject matter of still life, landscapes and figure portraiture. They will also develop their painting skills when they use their understanding of color theory (color wheel, value, warm and cool colors, intermediate and complementary colors) in their work. Various styles of artists will be shown to inspire the students’ conceptual thinking skills, as well as their use of technical skills in their own creations.  The students are given many opportunities to choose their own subject matter and media for their drawings and paintings in this class!  This is a great class for students interested in the possible opportunity of participating in RI Scholastics Art and Writing Competition and the Jim Langevin Art Competition each year.  This is also a great course for students  interested in creating an art portfolio for college.

Art and Design Classes for Ages 9-14

Ceramics and Sculpture Classes!

 

1. Ceramics and Sculpture for ages 7 and Up:

Tuesdays:  (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm) : June 22nd, July 6th, 13th, 20th, August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th 

Cost: $385, plus $25 summer registration fee

*Our ceramics fee includes 1/2 bag of clay and 4 oz. of glaze. If we find your child likes to build larger pieces, we reserve the right to request extra material fees on a need-be basis.

Students will learn how to build with clay , throw on the wheel and work with additional three dimensional media such as paper mache, wire, cardboard, and found objects to build this knowledge of three dimensional vocabulary and techniques!
